Day 3: Water

Today is our first day back in STEMmersion after the weekend, and it certainly feels like it. I felt the Monday-ness of it all the whole time.

Despite this, the day's activities were enjoyable. We started the day by writing a poem in sizable groups, based on the format of a poem called The Apple Pie That Papa Baked. You can see the poem my group created at the end of this post. Personally, I don't like this format much because it is tedious to write and read in my opinion.

After that, we got into even smaller groups and rotated to stations around the school. We had visitors from the City of Dayton Department of Water. My personal favorite station was a CCTV truck outside the school run by a man named Richard. He told lots of stories about his work and we got to see how the cameras functioned. We even got to see a recording from one of the robots where there was a raccoon in the pipe with the robot.

And now for the poem we made: This Is The Water

This is the water, moist and wet.

This is the water, moist and wet, that sustains the tree, brown and sticky.

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down onto the hill, large and grassy.

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down onto the hill, large and grassy, into the mud, brown and squishy.

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down onto the hill, large and grassy, into the mud, brown and squishy, into the sand, small and fine.

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down onto the hill, large and grassy, into the mud, brown and squishy, into the sand, small and fine, to the fish, lively and colorful.

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down onto the hill, large and grassy, into the mud, brown and squishy, into the sand, small and fine, to the fish, lively and colorful, living with beavers, plump and round.
